About HWG

Jim Harmon, Principal of the Harmon Web Group, has been involved in Project Management and Sales & Marketing for more than 26 years.  He cut his teeth on Madison Avenue in New York City at Foote, Cone and Belding, which at the time was the third largest advertising agency in the world.  After several years of managing multi-million dollar media planning projects, Jim provided development and strategic marketing direction for numerous web-based startup products including:

  • A robust testing program to screen prospective web and software programmers and administrative employees
  • An online assessment and distance learning program for elementary and secondary school teachers
  • A digital media distribution system for museums and libraries,
  • An enterprise automated driver testing program currently used statewide in several states
  • An online regional and state tax collection solution.

And, along the way he also was a major force behind launching a digital music magazine, a city newspaper and a magazine for stroke survivors and their caregivers.

Jim has several key relationships with Web 2.0 programming and design teams and manages development projects from the requirements stage through the launch and maintenance phases.  And he practices what he preaches – Jim also continues to work on his own web project, a social networking community site for teenage musicians.

Jim resides in Birmingham, Alabama, with his wife, Betsy (of 26 years) and his four children (two sets of twins who were all in diapers at the same time for about a year).  When he’s not working, which is rare, he is playing his guitar, supervising study hall at home or, yes, you guessed it, cruising the net!
